R Frerichs MD, FAAP

Dr. R received his medical degree at Vanderbilt Medical School in 1986 and completed pediatric residency at UNC, Chapel Hill. Dr. R joined North Raleigh Pediatrics full-time in July 1989. He was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1991, with latest re-certification in 2012.

Dr. R and his partner purchased the property at 7205 Stonehenge Drive in 1993, where the practice is now located. He has served as a preceptor for UNC medical students since 1997.

He is currently Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC School of Medicine. In 2006-07, he served a two-year term as Chairman of Pediatrics at WakeMed.

Chitra Chandrasekaran MD

Dr. Chitra Chandrasekaran  (Dr. Chitra) knew early in life that she would have a career in medicine.  Her mom, a nurse, was her inspiration as she witnessed her satisfaction helping patients on a daily basis. Dr. Chitra went to medical school in India and completed her residency in pediatrics at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where she served as chief resident.  Locally, Dr. Chitra has worked as a pediatrician at Rainbow Pediatrics in Fayetteville.  Dr. Chitra is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Chitra takes great pride in fostering lasting relationships with her patients and parents of all ages and cultures.  In her spare time, Dr. Chitra loves gardening, interior design, and Thai cuisine.  She and her husband have two children; a son who is a freshman at NC State, and a 9 year old daughter.  Dr. Chitra and her family love living in the triangle where they can enjoy all four seasons and easily travel to the mountains or the beach.  She is excited to be part of the team at North Raleigh Pediatrics!

Kunjan Shakya MD

Dr. Kunjan Shakya is originally from Lalitpur, Nepal and decided to become a doctor as a way to help others and make a difference in their lives.   He went to medical school in Dharan, Nepal and completed his residency in Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, Texas.  He has held professional positions as a Medical Officer in the ER at Patan Hospital in Nepal, and as a Pediatrician in Harrisonburg, VA as well as Fairmont, West Virginia.  Dr. Shakya is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Shakya is thrilled to be living in the Triangle. He and his family enjoy the diverse culture, nice weather, and great food (especially pizza)!   When he is not working, he loves spending time with his family, learning to play the guitar, photography, and hiking. 

Pamela Golden DO, FAAP

Dr. Pamela Golden comes to us from Ossining New York where she worked at Refuah Health Center in Spring Valley, NY as a pediatrician.  Dr. Golden has such special memories of going to her pediatrician growing up, that it inspired her to pursue pediatrics as her specialty.  Dr. Golden completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Greensburg, PA.  She completed her residency at Westchester Medical Center –New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY.  While in residency Dr. Golden was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence as well as the Dedication to Primary Care Award in Pediatrics.  Dr. Golden is Pediatric Board Certified, BLS/PALS certified, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She is passionate about cooking, nutrition and obesity counseling.
Dr. Golden is fluent in Hungarian and loves the traditional food of Hungary such as strudel, tortes, and stuffed cabbage.  She and her husband, along with a rescue cat named Turtle, are excited to be living in the Raleigh-Durham area where they can pursue outdoor activities all year long!

Glenda Adams RN, MSN, IBCLC

Glenda takes a compassionate, practical, individualize approach, partnering with families to achieve their personal goals in caring for their children. Glenda provides up to date recommendations so that families can make the best, informed decisions regarding the health and emotional well-being for themselves and their children.

Glenda grew up in Louisville, KY earning a BSN from the University of Louisville in 1991. Several years later, she joined the United States Air Force, serving for 10 years. Along her journey, she became certified as an International Board Certified Lactation in 1997, with latest re-certification in 2017. She earned an MSN from Old Dominion University. She is nearing completion of a PhD in nursing from the University of Louisville.

Since graduating from nursing school, Glenda has had the privilege of working as a postpartum and newborn nurse; NICU nurse; Labor & Delivery nurse; women’s health & gynecology nurse and nurse practitioner; inpatient and outpatient lactation consultant; and nursing education professor.  

Glenda is currently of member of the United States Lactation Consultants Association; North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition; North Carolina Lactation Consultant Association; Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses.

Glenda is a life-long learner. She has presented at international, national, state, and local conferences. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, attending sporting events and Broadway shows, reading, and watching tv!
